The VIRPIL WarBRD-D is a flight simulation flightstick base with an aircraft-grade duralumin gimbal, interchangeable cams and springs, and independently adjustable clutch dampers on each axis, compatible with VIRPIL and Thrustmaster grips.

It is the evolution of the popular WarBRD: the "-D" version adds detachable USB and AUX connectors for a cleaner, more reliable installation. Its dual-cam-per-axis gimbal delivers symmetrical, predictable centring, and the key adjustments are accessible without disassembling the base, whether on a desk or in a cockpit.

Compatibility

The WarBRD-D works on PC with any flight simulator or game that supports USB controllers, with no additional drivers required. It is not compatible with consoles. It works with the following grips:

VIRPIL grips: WarBRD, V.F.X, MongoosT-50 series, Constellation ALPHA series and Constellation DELTA.
Thrustmaster grips: Warthog, F/A-18C and Cougar.

Does the VIRPIL WarBRD-D include a grip?

No. The WarBRD-D is the base (gimbal) only; the grip is purchased separately. It is compatible with VIRPIL grips such as the WarBRD, the MongoosT-50 series or the Constellation series, and with Thrustmaster Warthog, F/A-18C and Cougar grips.

Does the VIRPIL WarBRD-D base work on PlayStation or Xbox?

No. The WarBRD-D is designed for PC and works with any simulator or game that supports USB controllers. It is not compatible with consoles.

What is the difference between the AviaSim and CosmoSim cams?

The AviaSim cams offer a non-linear response better suited to aviation, while the CosmoSim cams offer a linear response typical of space flight. Both are included with a soft tactile centre and with no centre, so you can tailor the feel to your flying style.

Can the axes be adjusted independently?

Yes. The WarBRD-D features independently adjustable clutch dampers on the X and Y axes, plus interchangeable cams and springs, to fine-tune the tension and centring return of each axis.

Does it need drivers to work?

No additional drivers are required: it connects over USB and works on Windows. To customise axes, buttons and shift states you use the free VPC Configuration Suite software.
