The Pimax Crystal Light is a PCVR virtual reality headset with 2880 × 2880 px per eye and 35 PPD, compatible with PC, aimed at sim racing drivers and gamers who want a razor-sharp image without base stations.

It pairs a QLED panel with Mini-LED backlight and glass aspheric lenses with a large sweet spot, with a variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Its 6DoF inside-out tracking through four cameras (Pimax SLAM) and Fixed Foveated Rendering (FFR 2.0) balance sharpness and performance in demanding simulators.

Compatibility

The Pimax Crystal Light is a PC-only headset (PCVR): it connects over DisplayPort and works with Pimax Play, SteamVR and OpenXR and OpenVR applications. It is not compatible with consoles. The 6DoF inside-out tracking needs no base stations and optionally supports the Lighthouse Faceplate to extend tracking. It fits naturally into a racing simulator or on top of your dedicated cockpit.

Does the Pimax Crystal Light need base stations?

No. It has 6DoF inside-out tracking with four cameras (SLAM system), so it works without base stations. If you prefer, it supports an optional Lighthouse Faceplate for tracking with SteamVR base stations.

Does it work with PlayStation or Xbox?

No. It is a PCVR headset that connects over DisplayPort to a Windows 10 or 11 PC. It is not compatible with consoles.

Which graphics card do I need for the Crystal Light?

Pimax lists a minimum NVIDIA RTX 2080 and recommends an RTX 3070 or higher. Fixed Foveated Rendering 2.0 and adjustable render resolution help match the graphics load to your PC.

Does it have eye tracking?

No. The Crystal Light does not include eye tracking; it uses Fixed Foveated Rendering (FFR 2.0) rather than dynamic foveation.

Is it compatible with the DMAS audio strap?

Yes. The Crystal Light is compatible with the Pimax DMAS, the off-ear audio strap with 40 mm drivers, to improve sound over the built-in audio.
