The LG UltraGear 27GX790A-B is a 27" OLED gaming monitor with QHD resolution (2560 × 1440), a 480Hz refresh rate and a 0.03ms (GtG) response time, with DisplayPort 2.1, aimed at sim racers and esports players chasing the fastest panel available.

Its flat OLED panel with 26.5" of visible screen uses Micro Lens Array+ (MLA+) technology, which lifts SDR brightness by 37.5% over previous MLA OLED monitors, and it is the first OLED monitor certified to VESA ClearMR 21000. It combines a 1,500,000:1 contrast ratio, 98.5% DCI-P3 (typ.) with ΔE ≤ 2, and 275 nits typical brightness with up to 1,300 nits peak. It is the speed benchmark of our gaming monitors range.

No. It is a flat 26.5" OLED panel with anti-glare and low-reflection treatment. LG does not sell a curved version of this model.

What do I need to make the most of 480Hz?

A graphics card that supports that refresh rate. The monitor reaches QHD at 480Hz over DisplayPort 2.1, and the cable is included in the box.

Is a 480Hz monitor worth it for sim racing?

In sim racing the gain is motion clarity: VESA ClearMR 21000 certification and the 0.03ms (GtG) response keep kerbs, braking references and laterally moving rivals sharp. To exploit 480Hz you need a GPU able to push those frame rates in the simulator.

How does it differ from the 240Hz LG 27GS95QX-B?

The 27GX790A-B doubles the refresh rate (480Hz versus 240Hz) and adds DisplayPort 2.1, a 10-bit panel, MLA+ technology with 1,300 nits peak (versus 1,000 nits) and VESA ClearMR 21000 certification. The 27GS95QX-B, on the other hand, includes a remote control and an optical SPDIF output.

Can I connect it to a console?

Yes, it has two HDMI 2.1 ports for connecting recent consoles and PCs.

How does LG protect the OLED panel against burn-in?

With OLED Care: OLED Screen Move shifts the image slightly at regular intervals, while Screen Saver and Image Cleaning help prevent after-images. These functions are enabled from the monitor's 4-way joystick.
