The Motion Systems ForceSeatMI (Motion Interface) is a software SDK that adds motion platform support to virtually any application or game, compatible with C, C++, C#, Python, Unity 3D, Unreal Engine and MATLAB/Simulink on Windows, Linux and Raspberry Pi, aimed at developers and integrators.

ForceSeatMI does not control the hardware directly: it sends telemetry or a position request to ForceSeatPM, which turns that data into the platform's actual motion. This means the developer does not depend on a specific hardware model, does not have to translate telemetry into motor positions, and error handling inside the application is simplified.

Key features of ForceSeatMI

  • Three operation modes: forces simulation (telemetry), fast top frame positioning and precise top frame positioning.
  • Inverse Kinematics in the latest version: the application sends the required top frame position and ForceSeatPM calculates the position of the arms or actuators.
  • The SDK is hardware-independent: platform-specific adjustments are made inside ForceSeatPM.
  • All diagnostic and processing features of ForceSeatPM remain available.
  • Out-of-the-box integration with C, C++, C#, Python, Unity 3D, Unreal Engine, MATLAB® and Simulink®.

Compatibility

ForceSeatMI runs on Windows PC, Linux, Raspberry Pi 3 and Raspberry Pi 4. Integration is available from C, C++, C#, Python, Unity 3D, Unreal Engine (4.27, 5.3, 5.4 or newer), MATLAB® and Simulink®. It requires ForceSeatPM installed, the free application that controls Motion Systems motion platforms and turns telemetry into motion.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between ForceSeatMI and ForceSeatDI?

ForceSeatMI is a high-level interface: it sends telemetry or position requests to ForceSeatPM, which handles the hardware. ForceSeatDI is lower level and controls the hardware directly, without ForceSeatPM. ForceSeatMI is compatible with Windows PC, Linux, Raspberry Pi 3 and Raspberry Pi 4.

Do I need ForceSeatPM to use ForceSeatMI?

Yes. ForceSeatMI does not control the hardware directly: it sends the data to ForceSeatPM, which turns it into the platform's actual motion. ForceSeatPM is free of charge.

Which languages and engines can I integrate it with?

It provides out-of-the-box support for C, C++, C#, Python, Unity 3D (C#), Unreal Engine (C++), MATLAB® and Simulink®. The Unity examples support Unity 5.x or newer and the Unreal Engine examples support versions 4.27, 5.3, 5.4 or newer.

Which operating systems does it run on?

It runs on Windows PC, Linux, Raspberry Pi 3 and Raspberry Pi 4.

Is it only for video games or also for research and engineering?

Beyond games and simulators, it is used in testing, research and simulation projects (for example trains or vehicles). MATLAB® and Simulink® support makes it suitable for engineering and prototyping workflows.
