The TP-Link Deco S7 is an AC1900 Wi-Fi 5 mesh system of three units that covers the whole home with a single network, reaches 1900 Mbps combined and provides 3 Gigabit ports per node to hard-wire the simulator PC, a console or a NAS.

The three units run dual band (1300 Mbps on 5 GHz and 600 Mbps on 2.4 GHz) with 3×3 MU-MIMO and Beamforming, coordinating into one mesh with a single name and password. Handover between nodes takes under 0.3 seconds, and Ethernet backhaul is supported: link two nodes with a cable and that hop stops consuming Wi-Fi bandwidth.

Key features

  • AC1900 dual-band Wi-Fi: up to 1300 Mbps on 5 GHz and 600 Mbps on 2.4 GHz.
  • 3×3 MU-MIMO and Beamforming: more simultaneous capacity and signal aimed at each device.
  • Over 100 devices connected at once without dragging the network down.
  • 3 Gigabit ports per unit (auto-sensing WAN/LAN) and optional Ethernet backhaul.
  • Router or access point mode: replace your provider's router or work alongside it.
  • Roaming in under 0.3 s between nodes, with no noticeable drop.
  • Parental controls and per-device QoS from the Deco app.

Compatibility

  • Works with any internet provider; runs as the main router or as an access point.
  • Compatible with the rest of the Deco range: expand the mesh by adding more units.
  • All three nodes accept wired connections, ideal for bringing Ethernet to the racing simulator, a console or a NAS.
  • MU-MIMO requires compatible client devices; seamless roaming requires 802.11k/v/r clients.

Frequently asked questions

How does it differ from the Deco X55?

The Deco S7 is Wi-Fi 5 (AC1900, up to 1900 Mbps) and the Deco X55 is Wi-Fi 6 (AX3000, up to 3 Gbps). Both give 3 Gigabit ports per unit; the X55 handles device-dense homes better thanks to OFDMA.

Can I hard-wire the simulator?

Yes. Each unit has 3 Gigabit ports, so you can place a node next to the cockpit and connect the PC over Ethernet. For online competition the cable gives a steadier latency than Wi-Fi.

Does it replace my provider's router?

It can, in router mode, or it can work alongside it in access point mode. It is compatible with any internet provider.

What does Ethernet backhaul add?

It links the nodes by cable rather than over Wi-Fi. The hop between units stops consuming wireless bandwidth, and the network gains speed and stability — especially in homes with thick walls.

Does the connection drop when moving between nodes?

No. The three units form a single network with the same name and password, and handover takes under 0.3 seconds. The client device must support 802.11k/v/r.

How many devices can it handle?

Over 100 devices connected at once, thanks to 3×3 MU-MIMO technology, which serves several clients simultaneously.
