The PXN Z-D1 is a carbon steel desk mount for the PXN HBS handbrake, made up of a mounting plate and two clamps that tighten onto either side of the desk edge.

The idea is straightforward: a handbrake gets pulled hard, and if it is not properly secured it shifts. The Z-D1 gives it a rigid steel platform with dual clamping on the left and the right, so the load stays centred and the lever does not move under the pull. It is the answer when you do not want to build a full aluminium profile cockpit just to anchor a handbrake.

Compatibility

Designed for the PXN HBS handbrake: the plate holes follow its mounting pattern, this is not a generic flat plate.
PXN states that the plate also takes other accessories from the brand that are set up for desk mounting.
The handbrake is not included: the Z-D1 is the mount only.
Fits onto the edge of a desk or solid table. If you already run an aluminium profile cockpit, the HBS bolts straight to the frame and this mount is not needed.

Does the PXN Z-D1 include the handbrake?

No. The Z-D1 is the mount only: the steel plate, the two desk clamps and the mounting accessories pack. The PXN HBS handbrake is sold separately.

What exactly is it for?

To anchor the handbrake to the edge of a desk on a rigid base. Pulling the lever in rally or drift puts a fair bit of force through it, and without a solid fixing the handbrake shifts and you lose your reference between pulls.

Does it only fit the PXN HBS?

It is designed for the HBS: the plate holes follow its mounting pattern, so the handbrake sits centred relative to the clamps. PXN states that the plate also takes other accessories from the brand set up for desk mounting.

How is it installed?

First bolt the handbrake to the plate using the pre-aligned holes. Then fix the two clamps to the plate with the internal hex screws, position the assembly on the desk edge and tighten both sides evenly so it does not twist.

Do I need to drill the desk?

No. It is a clamp system: it tightens against the desk edge and comes off whenever you want, leaving no drill marks.

Is it any use if I already have a cockpit?

If your cockpit is aluminium profile, you do not need it: the handbrake bolts straight to the frame. The Z-D1 is aimed at people playing at a desk with no rigid structure to anchor it to.
