The TP-Link LS1008G is an unmanaged 8-port Gigabit desktop switch (10/100/1000 Mbps), fanless and with non-blocking switching capacity, designed to expand the wired network of a setup with several devices connected.
It is part of TP-Link's LiteWave range: connect it to the router and it hands you seven extra Gigabit ports, with no configuration and no software. Green Ethernet technology adjusts power draw according to link status and cable length, keeping it at 3.9 W.
Key features
- 8 × 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports with auto-negotiation and Auto-MDI/MDIX: no crossover cables needed.
- Non-blocking capacity: every port can run at full speed at the same time.
- IEEE 802.3x flow control: stable transfers, even with large files.
- Fanless: silent operation, fine for the desk or next to the cockpit.
- Green Ethernet: 3.9 W power draw, adjusted automatically to real use.
- Compact design: 127 × 66.5 × 23 mm, desktop or wall mounting.
- Plug & Play: unmanaged, ready the moment you plug it in.

Frequently asked questions
How many devices can I really connect?
It has 8 Gigabit ports. One is taken by the uplink cable to the router, leaving 7 free for PCs, consoles, NAS, IP cameras or several simulator stations.
What does non-blocking mean?
It means the internal switching capacity is enough for every port to run at 1 Gbps simultaneously without slowing one another down — which matters when several devices are moving traffic at once.
Does it need configuration?
No. It is an unmanaged switch: connect it to the router with a network cable and it works. Auto-MDI/MDIX detects the cable type, so no crossover cables are needed.
Does it have QoS or VLAN?
No. The LS1008G includes neither QoS nor VLAN. If you need traffic prioritisation, the 5-port LS105G does offer 802.1p/DSCP QoS.
Is it noisy?
No. Cooling is passive and there is no fan, so it can be installed right next to the driving position without adding background noise.
Why hard-wire the simulator instead of using Wi-Fi?
Because a Gigabit cable removes wireless interference and latency jitter. In online competition what hurts is rarely raw speed — it is an unstable ping.
