The Thrustmaster TH8A is a high-end gear shifter with a 100% metal build and contactless magnetic H.E.A.R.T sensors, supplied with two interchangeable shift plates so you can drive in H-pattern (7 gears plus reverse) or in sequential mode (+/-).

It stands 13 cm tall, and its internal mechanism, gear stick and clamping system are all metal. The knob is detachable and takes real universal car shift knobs, while both the shifting resistance and the lever travel can be tuned in software from a PC. It is the reference shifter for completing a serious racing simulator.

What is the difference between the TH8A and the TH8S?

The TH8A is the high-end model: 100% metal, with two shift plates (H-pattern and sequential), a detachable knob, a clamp adjustable through 360° and software-adjustable travel and resistance. The TH8S only has an H-pattern plate, a short 4 cm lever and a clamp-based attachment, at a lower price.

Can it be used in sequential mode?

Yes. The box includes two shift plates: the H-pattern with 7 gears plus reverse, and the sequential (+/-) plate. Swapping between them takes a few minutes and needs no special tools.

Does it work with wheels from other brands?

On PC, yes: over USB it works with every racing wheel on the market. On consoles it has to be connected via DIN to a Thrustmaster Force Feedback wheel base.

Can the knob be changed?

Yes. The knob is detachable and the thread takes the universal car shift knobs sold on the market, so it can be fully customised.

Can it be mounted on a cockpit?

Yes. The clamping system is removable and adjustable through 360°: it works on tables and shelves 1 to 55 mm thick, and it can also be bolted straight to a cockpit.

Does it lose precision over time?

No. The H.E.A.R.T sensors are magnetic and contactless, with no potentiometers or switches to wear out, so precision is maintained throughout the life of the product.
