The Thrustmaster TH8S is a gear shifter with an 8-position H-pattern shift plate (7 gears plus reverse), a short 4 cm metal shift lever and frictionless magnetic H.E.A.R.T sensors inherited from the high-end TH8A.

It is a "short" shifter built for responsiveness: brief throws and clean engagement in rally, GT, NASCAR or trucking. The number of gears can be doubled with a keyboard or gamepad shortcut to drive trucks with up to 14 gears, and it slots naturally into an existing racing simulator.

What is the difference between the TH8S and the TH8A?

The TH8S keeps the 7+1 H-pattern plate and the H.E.A.R.T technology of the TH8A, but with a short 4 cm lever, a clamp-based attachment and no sequential mode. The TH8A adds a 100% metal build, a sequential plate, a detachable knob and software-adjustable travel and resistance.

Does it have a sequential mode?

No. The TH8S only comes with the H-pattern plate with 7 gears plus reverse. If you need sequential (+/-) shifting, the TH8A is the option, as it includes both plates.

Does it work for trucks with more than 7 gears?

Yes. The number of gears can be doubled by configuring a keyboard or gamepad shortcut, which allows driving trucks with up to 14 gears in simulators such as Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Does it work with wheels from other brands?

On PC, yes: over USB it is compatible with every racing wheel on the market. On consoles it needs a DIN connection to a Thrustmaster Force Feedback wheel base.

How does it attach to the desk?

With a built-in clamp that requires no tools and fits tables and supports 0.1 to 4 cm thick, so it can be set up and stored away in seconds.

Does it lose precision with use?

No. The H.E.A.R.T sensors are magnetic and contactless, with no potentiometers to wear out, so precision is maintained throughout the life of the product.
