The VIRPIL R1-LEGEND is a 3-axis rudder pedal set for flight simulation, built entirely from metal and fitted with 14-bit contactless digital sensors, compatible with PC and aimed at virtual pilots who want high-end precision.

It succeeds the VPC ACE series within the VIRPIL Controls range with a heavier-duty frame, a larger floor plate that prevents tipping and a twist dial that adjusts centring tension steplessly. Cams and springs can be swapped without stripping the assembly, and the AUX output lets you daisy chain other VIRPIL devices, such as flightsticks, through a single USB port.

With or without the Damper Upgrade Kit?

The R1-LEGEND is offered on its own or together with the R1 Pedals Damper Upgrade Kit. The kit damps the spring bounce as the pedals return to centre and can be set up to hold them in the chosen position, which works particularly well with the No Center cam. If you want a smoother, more controlled response across the whole travel, choose the version with the kit; if you prefer classic spring centring, the version without it covers everyday use.

No. The R1-LEGEND connects by USB to a PC (Windows) and VIRPIL does not list PlayStation or Xbox console support.

What is the difference between the Hard Center, Soft Center and No Center cams?

The Hard Center cam gives a clear centre marker, the Soft Center reduces that detent so you can work more delicately around the centre, and the No Center removes it entirely, which suits the damper kit. All three are included and the Soft Center comes pre-installed.

Can centring stiffness be adjusted without changing the spring?

Yes. A twist dial adjusts centring spring tension steplessly. Two springs are also included, the pre-installed Heavy and the Standard, to shift the overall force range.

What is in the R1-LEGEND box?
