The GSI Formula Pro Elite V2 is a 300 mm formula-style sim racing wheel with a 4.3" touchscreen, 57 mappable inputs, 66 addressable RGB LEDs and GSI's own simOS firmware.
This is a full redesign of the original FPE rather than a minor revision: it goes from 46 to 57 inputs, sheds 20 % of the weight down to 1.53 kg with dual clutches, and drops to a 300 mm diameter so it works equally well in open-wheel and GT machinery. Every wheel is hand assembled and passes a two-stage quality control.
Key features of the GSI Formula Pro Elite V2
- 57 mappable inputs in total, up from 46 on the original FPE.
- 66 individually addressable RGB LEDs: buttons, encoders, RPM strip and side indicators.
- 6.5 Ncm rotary encoders, the same ones fitted to the Hyper SL, plus 2 thumb encoders beside your thumbs.
- 10 push-buttons engaging at 500 gram force with two RGB LEDs each, and 2 seven-way switches.
- 3 + 14 + 3 telemetry LEDs: the side indicators can be mapped to traction control, ABS, flags and more.
- Slimmer silicone handles with a new dirt and dust resistant formula.
- 1.53 kg with dual clutches: 20 % lighter than the original model.
simOS: GSI's firmware
Every current GSI wheel runs on simOS, the brand's own firmware optimised specifically for sim racing. It includes predictive algorithms to improve input responsiveness, intelligent power management and a set of features that integrate directly with the simOS app.

Which version should you choose?
The wheel is ordered with 2 paddles (shifting only) or 4 paddles (shifting plus dual clutch), and in aluminium or carbon fibre. Four paddles make sense if you do standing starts and want to manage the bite point; with two paddles the wheel is 100 g lighter. Carbon saves weight and gives a slightly crisper action; aluminium costs less and lasts just as well.
What is in the box
- GSI Formula Pro Elite V2 wheel
- GSI "Spec 3" coiled USB cable
The AH50 hub extension is sold separately.
Compatibility
It runs over USB on PC (Windows) and mounts on direct drive wheelbases with a 70 mm PCD pattern, either directly or through the corresponding quick release or hub. In our own fitting experience it installs on MOZA R5, R9, R12, R16 and R21; Asetek Forte and Invicta; Simucube 2 Sport, Pro and Ultimate; Simagic Alpha Mini, Alpha and Alpha Ultimate; VRS Direct Force Pro; Cammus DDWB15; Qubic System QS-DD-20; Accuforce through its quick release, and Fanatec DD bases through the Podium Hub.
- Not compatible with consoles: it is a USB peripheral for PC.
- Connect it to a powered USB hub or an active USB repeater; passive USB extension cables cause problems.
Frequently asked questions
What changes compared with the original Formula Pro Elite?
Almost everything except the concept. It goes from 46 to 57 mappable inputs, adds 66 addressable RGB LEDs where there was no backlighting at all, introduces 6.5 Ncm encoders and two thumb encoders, doubles the seven-way switches from one to two, cuts the weight by 20 % to 1.53 kg and reduces the diameter from 310 to 300 mm. It also runs on simOS, GSI's own firmware.
Do I need to install simOS?
The firmware ships on the wheel already. The simOS app is the desktop tool used to configure inputs, LEDs and updates; it is a free download from the GSI website.
Two paddles or four?
With 2 paddles you only get up and down shifts and the wheel weighs 1.43 kg. With 4 you add the dual clutch for standing starts and the weight rises to 1.53 kg. If you race with standing starts, the four paddles are worth it.
Aluminium or carbon fibre paddles?
The difference is weight, feel and price. Carbon is lighter and gives a slightly crisper action; aluminium costs less and holds up exactly as well. Mechanically both use the same N52 magnets.
Does it work with PlayStation or Xbox?
No. It is a USB wheel for Windows PC. There is no firmware or console licence that enables it on PlayStation or Xbox.
Do the six finishes change anything beyond the colour?
No. Ascent, Blackout, Phantom, Prime, Suzuki and TKX share the same electronics, materials, weight and functions; what changes is the faceplate markings and colour scheme.
