The Esportsim GTW Ultra is a sim racing wheel with a 2.4" LCD screen (240x320 pixels, 65K colours), 11 RGB telemetry LEDs and 3.5 mm carbon fibre faceplates, compatible with any 6x70 mm PCD wheelbase, for drivers who want full telemetry on the wheel itself.

It is the top model in the GTW range from Italian manufacturer Esportsim: it brings together all the hardware of the GTW Neat and GTW Illumina — 10 professional buttons, 4 absolute encoders with 12 positions, a 7-way digital joystick, an MF Switch, magnetic CNC aluminium paddles and the 11 RGB LEDs — and adds the screen, able to show several dashboards you can swap on the fly. It connects over USB 2.0 on PC, or over WiFi to receive telemetry on console.

Which version should you choose?

The Paddles option defines the PPU assembly: "2 - Shifter" fits only the two gear paddles, while "4 - Shifter + Clutch" adds the two Hall effect clutches with adjustable bite point. The Hub option sets the platform: "6x70mm PCD" is the standard PC adapter and fits most direct drive wheelbases, while the Thrustmaster and Fanatec hubs carry the electronics that enable PS4, PS5 and Xbox as well as PC.

Compatibility

  • Wheelbases: any base with the 6x70 mm PCD bolt pattern; the manufacturer confirms compatibility with Thrustmaster, Fanatec and Simucube bases.
  • PC: USB 2.0 connection and telemetry from any simulator through SimHub, where the wheel is integrated as a native device.
  • PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox: requires the Thrustmaster hub or Fanatec hub version. Telemetry arrives over WiFi using the F1 2023 UDP protocol; in F1 2024 you can set the UDP format to 2023 in the game settings.
  • Optional accessory: compatible with an additional removable underside handle.

What does the GTW Ultra add over the GTW Illumina?

The 2.4" LCD screen with 240x320 pixels and 65K colours, and with it the dashboards from the Esportsim software. The 11 RGB telemetry LEDs and the rest of the hardware are common to both models.

Does the GTW Ultra include an H-pattern or sequential shifter?

No. The GTW Ultra is a wheel and carries two magnetic gear paddles; it has no gear lever, no H-pattern/sequential selector and no interchangeable knobs. If you want a lever, you need a separate shifter connected to your wheelbase or PC.

How do you change the dashboard on the screen?

With the MF Switch in the latched position and the SL3 encoder set to CD (Change Dashboard). From there you cycle through the available designs without leaving the session.

Does it work on PS5 and Xbox?

Yes, with the right version. The standard 6x70 mm PCD adapter is for PC; for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox you need the Thrustmaster hub or the Fanatec hub, which carry the preconfigured console electronics.

Which wheelbases is it compatible with?

What is the difference between the 2 and 4 paddle options?
