The GSI Interlock is a modular sim racing steering wheel built around an aluminium base module with 44 mappable inputs and interchangeable 300 or 320 mm rims, designed so you can change format without replacing the electronics.

Unlike a closed wheel, here the electronics — buttons, encoders, switches, LEDs and LED Matrix — live in the base module, and the rim bolts on in front. You can move from a 300 mm GT rim to a 320 mm oval, or switch from perforated leatherette to suede, keeping exactly the same input configuration. Every variant we stock includes the 4 aluminium paddles and the central LED Matrix.

Key features of the GSI Interlock

  • Modular architecture: the base module accepts official GSI rims or third-party rims with a 70 mm PCD.
  • 44 mappable inputs in the 4-paddle configuration with LED Matrix that we supply.
  • 90 addressable RGB LEDs with the LED Matrix fitted, plus a 4 + 15 + 4 telemetry strip.
  • Central LED Matrix for current gear, flags and alerts, included on all our variants.
  • 12 RGB buttons at 500 gf, 2 illuminated five-way encoders at 6.5 N·cm, 2 thumb encoders and 2 seven-way switches.
  • Aluminium unibody chassis with a matte brushed aluminium front plate and scratch-resistant polycarbonate buttons.
  • Ready for USB-C passthrough quick releases, including the forthcoming GSI Powerlink-QR.

simOS: the GSI firmware

The Interlock runs on simOS, the in-house firmware from Gomez Sim Industries. The simOS desktop application is where you assign inputs, configure the behaviour of the LEDs and the LED Matrix, and apply firmware updates; it is a free download from the manufacturer’s website.

Which rim should you choose?

Variant Diameter Grip Typical use
Base module only Depends on the rim you fit From the rim You already have a compatible rim or want a third-party one
Ultra 300 mm Overmoulded silicone Formula and single-seaters
GT 300 mm perforated 300 mm Perforated leatherette Compact GT
Oval 320 mm perforated 320 mm Perforated leatherette GT, endurance and oval
Oval 320 mm suede 320 mm Synthetic suede GT and endurance, more grip with gloves

If you choose the base module only, your rim must meet three conditions: a 70 mm PCD with six M5 bolts, a 55 mm centre hole to leave room for the LED Matrix, and enough clearance not to foul the module’s buttons and encoders.

What’s in the box

  • GSI Interlock base module with LED Matrix
  • The rim selected from the dropdown, except on the base-module-only variant
  • Set of 4 aluminium paddles
  • GSI “Spec 3” coiled USB cable

The AH50 extension hub is sold separately.

Compatibility

It runs over USB on PC (Windows) and mounts on direct drive wheelbases with a 70 mm PCD. GSI lists it as compatible with Simucube, VRS DirectForce Pro, Simagic via its quick release, Asetek with the Invicta QR, MOZA with the MOZA QR, Fanatec direct drive bases through the SRM Emulator Hub or the Podium Hub and, broadly, most 8 Nm or higher wheelbases.

  • Not compatible with consoles: it is a USB peripheral for PC.
  • Connect it to a powered USB hub or an active USB repeater; passive USB extension cables cause problems.
  • The module supports USB-C passthrough, so it is ready for wireless quick releases once GSI launches the Powerlink-QR.

Frequently asked questions

What do I gain with a modular wheel over a closed one?

The rim and the electronics are separate parts. If you add a GT car to your rotation and want a 320 mm rim, you buy the rim rather than a whole new wheel; if the rim wears out with use, you replace only the rim. The expensive part, the electronics, stays.

Can I fit a rim that is not made by GSI?

Yes, provided it meets three conditions: a 70 mm PCD with six M5 bolts, a 55 mm centre hole for the LED Matrix, and enough clearance not to cover the module’s buttons or encoders. If your rim has no centre hole, the module still works but the LED Matrix will be hidden.

What exactly do the variants you sell include?

All of them include the base module with the central LED Matrix and the set of 4 aluminium paddles, plus the “Spec 3” coiled cable. The only difference between variants is the rim: you can order it with no rim, with the 300 mm Ultra, with the 300 mm perforated GT or with the 320 mm oval in perforated or suede.

What is the LED Matrix for?

It is the module’s central LED display. It shows the current gear and can be assigned to flags, spotter alerts, the pit limiter or any warning you configure. It is not a full dash: for detailed numerical telemetry you will still use an external dash or your monitor.

Does it work with PlayStation or Xbox?

No. It is a USB wheel for Windows PC. There is no firmware or console licence that enables it on PlayStation or Xbox.

What does USB-C passthrough ready mean?

That the USB signal can pass through the quick release instead of an external coiled cable. Today it connects with the included “Spec 3” cable; once GSI launches its Powerlink-QR, the same module will be able to run with no visible cable.
