The Simucube ActivePedal Ultimate is an active pedal delivering up to 170 kg of force for sim racing, compatible with PC, replacing springs and elastomers with a motorised actuator under software control.

Built by Granite Devices in Tampere, Finland, it has no passive elements at all: force curve, travel, friction and damping are defined in software and reproduced identically lap after lap. It also generates effects from the simulator's telemetry — ABS, RPM and G-force — and can be configured as a brake, throttle or clutch. Everything is set from Simucube Tuner, with automatic profile switching by car and game.

Key features of the ActivePedal Ultimate

  • Up to 170 kg of force (1,700 N), or up to 120 kg when travel is prioritised over load.
  • Travel of 5 to 62 mm by default, extendable to 5-79 mm through mechanical adjustment.
  • No passive elements: exact repeatability of pedal feel, with no drift from temperature or rubber wear.
  • Simulator telemetry effects: ABS, RPM and G-force applied directly to the pedal.
  • Software-configurable as brake, throttle or clutch, with editable force-travel curve, friction and damping.
  • Two passive pedal ports, so the rest of the pedal set is tuned from Simucube Tuner as well.
  • Power output for daisy-chaining further units into a two or three active pedal set.

Compatibility

  • Platform: PC running Windows. The pedal is recognised as a standard USB game controller, so it works in any driving game that supports USB pedals. Simucube does not state console compatibility.
  • Active effects: ABS, RPM and G-force require a game that outputs telemetry and is supported by Simucube Tuner, such as Automobilista 2, Le Mans Ultimate, rFactor 2, EA Sports WRC or Dirt Rally 2. In every other title it works as a configurable USB pedal, without effects.
  • Passive pedals: Heusinkveld Sim Pedals Sprint, Ultimate and Ultimate+ integrate into Simucube Tuner through the Heusinkveld connector cable, sold separately. The passive Simucube Throttle and, generally, load cell pedals also connect through its two ports.
  • Mounting: on the Simucube pedal baseplate or straight onto the rig using the manufacturer's drilling template.
  • Expansion: the set grows by daisy-chaining ActivePedal Ultimate Add-on units.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the ActivePedal Ultimate and the ActivePedal Pro?

The Ultimate reaches 170 kg of force against 110 kg on the Pro, with a 480 W peak draw against 280 W and a power output for daisy-chaining units, which the Pro does not have. Ultimate travel is 5 to 62 mm, extendable to 79 mm; the Pro is 5 to 74 mm fixed. Both weigh 6 kg and share software, telemetry effects and passive pedal ports.

Does it work with any simulator?

As a pedal, yes: it is recognised as a standard USB game controller in practically any driving game, and pedal feel remains configurable. The active ABS, RPM and G-force effects only work in telemetry games supported by Simucube Tuner.

Can I use it as a throttle or clutch instead of a brake?

Yes. The function is chosen in software from Simucube Tuner, with no mechanical changes. Most drivers use it as a brake, where the 170 kg of force pays off most, but nothing stops you assigning it to throttle or clutch.

Can I connect my Heusinkveld pedals?

Yes. Simucube has verified the Sim Pedals Sprint, Ultimate and Ultimate+, which connect to one of the two passive pedal ports using a connector cable sold separately. They are then tuned from Simucube Tuner rather than through their own software.

Do I need to buy two or three units?

No. The usual route is to start with one unit as the brake and keep throttle and clutch passive, wired into the ActivePedal's own ports. If you later want a second or third active pedal, Add-on units daisy-chain from the power output.

How much power does it draw?

Between 10 and 100 W in normal use, with peaks of up to 480 W under heavy braking. Worth accounting for when planning the rig's power strip, especially if you intend to chain several units.
