The GSI Hyper P1 is a 300 mm formula-style sim racing steering wheel with a 4.3-inch touchscreen, 72 mappable inputs and 88 addressable RGB LEDs — the flagship model from Gomez Sim Industries.
It is the only wheel in the range that combines the full control set — 12 push buttons, 5 five-way encoders, 4 thumb encoders and 3 seven-way switches — with an integrated display. Against the Hyper SL, which is the same platform without a screen, it adds the LCD and two more LEDs on the telemetry strip in exchange for roughly 200 g.
Key features of the GSI Hyper P1
- 70 mappable inputs with 4 paddles and 72 with the top auxiliary paddles.
- 4.3-inch high-resolution touchscreen built into the front plate.
- 88 individually addressable RGB LEDs, the highest count in the range, with a 3 + 14 + 3 telemetry strip.
- 12 push buttons at 500 gf with RGB backlighting and 5 five-way encoders at 6.5 N·cm, also illuminated.
- 4 thumb encoders under your thumbs and 3 seven-way multi switches.
- Optional top auxiliary paddles for adjusting brake bias, traction control or maps without looking down.
- 5 mm matte carbon fibre front plate over a 6061 aluminium unibody chassis with overmoulded silicone handles.
simOS: the GSI firmware
The Hyper P1 runs on simOS, the in-house firmware from Gomez Sim Industries. The simOS desktop application is where you assign inputs, configure the behaviour of the 88 LEDs and the display, and apply firmware updates; it is a free download from the manufacturer’s website.

Which version should you choose?
The Hyper P1 is ordered with 4 paddles (shifting plus dual clutch) or 6 paddles, which add two top auxiliaries, two more inputs and around 150 g. The material, aluminium or carbon fibre, changes about 20 g and the feel of the action; the N52 magnets are the same in both cases.
What’s in the box
- GSI Hyper P1 steering wheel
- GSI “Spec 3” coiled USB cable
- Extra label sheet for customising the functions
The QRS-1 quick release is sold separately.
Compatibility
It runs over USB on PC (Windows) and mounts on direct drive wheelbases with a 70 mm PCD, either directly or through the matching quick release or hub. In our own fitting experience it installs on MOZA R5, R9, R12, R16 and R21; Asetek Forte and Invicta; Simucube; Simagic; VRS Direct Force Pro; Cammus DDWB15; Qubic System QS-DD-20; Accuforce via its quick release, and Fanatec bases through the Podium Hub.
- Not compatible with consoles: it is a USB peripheral for PC.
- Connect it to a powered USB hub or an active USB repeater; passive USB extension cables cause problems.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Hyper P1 and the Hyper SL?
The screen. The Hyper P1 carries the 4.3-inch touchscreen LCD, reaches 88 RGB LEDs and uses a 3+14+3 telemetry strip; the Hyper SL drops the display, settles at 86 LEDs and a 3+12+3 strip, and weighs about 200 g less. Everything else — buttons, encoders, thumb encoders, switches, materials — is identical.
What software drives the display?
The screen is fed by simulator telemetry through the usual dash applications, which let you choose what data to show and how. Configuring the wheel itself — inputs, LEDs, updates — is done from the GSI simOS application.
4 paddles or 6 paddles?
With 4 you get shifting and a dual clutch, and the wheel weighs 1.70 kg. With 6 you add the top auxiliaries for on-the-move adjustments, two more inputs and around 150 g. In endurance racing and categories with a lot of per-lap adjustment, six pay off.
Does it work with PlayStation or Xbox?
No. It is a USB wheel for Windows PC. There is no firmware or console licence that enables it on PlayStation or Xbox.
Do I need anything else to fit it?
Your wheelbase or quick release needs a 70 mm PCD bolt pattern. The “Spec 3” coiled cable and the label sheet are included; the GSI QRS-1 quick release is not.
Do the finishes change anything beyond the colour?
No. They share electronics, materials, weight and functions; what changes is the printing and the colour scheme of the front plate. The finish is selected from the dropdown on this page.
