What accessories you need for rally sim racing

  • Wheel: the round format makes it easier to correct quickly in every corner.
  • Handbrake: essential for rotating the car through the tightest corners.
  • Sequential shifter: reproduces the gear change of a modern rally car.
  • Bucket seat: holds you in place and gives you the more upright position typical of rally.

Rally wheel for your simulator

A rally wheel is usually round and larger in diameter than a formula wheel. The Fanatec ClubSport Rally Sweden and the Fanatec Podium Rally Monte Carlo replicate the wheel of the Ford Puma Hybrid Rally1. For PC, the Simagic Neo X-330T is a complete 330 mm round wheel. We also include rally rims to complete the wheel you already have.

Rally handbrake

A rally handbrake can use a load cell, hydraulics or a position sensor. Load cell models such as the SG Racing RALLY LC respond to the force you apply. Hydraulic models such as the Simagic TB-RS aim for the feel of a real system. Before you buy, check how it mounts to your cockpit.

Sequential shifter and rally seat

You can choose a purely sequential shifter such as the SG Racing PRO RALLY, a dual H and sequential model, or a kit such as the Heusinkveld Rally Kit, with shifter and handbrake. How much does a rally handbrake cost?

They range from around €70 for entry-level models to around €490 for the MME Handbrake. The price depends mainly on the sensor and the build.

Do I need a handbrake and a shifter to play rally games?

They are not essential, because you can assign those functions to buttons or paddles, but they greatly improve control and realism.

Do these accessories work with any wheelbase?

Not always. Compatibility depends on the model and your platform, so check each product page before you buy.
