What is an F1 steering wheel and how does it differ from a GT wheel?

An F1 steering wheel recreates the controls of a single-seater: it is smaller than a GT wheel, usually measures between 270 and 300 mm, and groups buttons, rotary switches and paddles so you can adjust the car without letting go. The Fanatec ClubSport Formula V3 measures 290 mm and the MOZA FSR2, 280 mm. If you switch between categories, we also include hybrid GT and formula models such as the Cube Controls F-CORE EVO and the Simagic GT Neo.

How to choose your Formula 1 steering wheel

  • Compatibility: check on the product page that it works with your wheelbase. Some models are exclusive to one ecosystem, such as the Thrustmaster add-ons.
  • Display: shows telemetry on the wheel itself. If you already use an external dash, you can choose a model without one.
  • Paddles: check how many it has and whether it includes a dual clutch, which is useful for single-seater race starts.

On console, compatibility depends on both the wheel and the wheelbase. The Fanatec ClubSport Formula V3 is PS5 Ready and PS4 Ready with a compatible Fanatec wheelbase. Thrustmaster add-ons take on the platform of the wheelbase they are mounted on. For Xbox, the Fanatec ClubSport Formula V2.5 X is officially licensed for Series X|S and One.
