What is an F1 cockpit and how does it differ from a GT cockpit?

An F1 cockpit seats you as in a single-seater: low, reclined and with the pedals raised. A GT cockpit keeps a more upright position and takes up less length. If you switch between categories, a hybrid model such as the Next Level Racing F-GT Pro lets you use both positions.

How to choose your Formula 1 cockpit

  • Position: choose a pure formula cockpit if you only drive single-seaters, or a hybrid if you also race GT.
  • Rigidity: the more powerful your Direct Drive wheelbase, the more solid the frame needs to be.
  • Space: check the dimensions. If you need to store it, there are foldable options such as the Playseat Challenge DD F1 Edition.
  • Seat: check whether one is included. The Res-Tech X1 comes with one, while the Trak Racer Racing TRX V2 is sold without.

Can I use a formula cockpit to drive GT cars?

You can, but you will keep a single-seater position. If you switch between categories, a hybrid Formula/GT model will suit you better.

Does an F1 seat fit any cockpit?
